World Landscape Architecture Month Spotlight - Executive Landscaping

Classic Coastal Elegance: Inside the Minds of Executive Landscaping

The final feature in our World Landscape Architecture Month series, we’re featuring Executive Landscaping, based in Cape Cod, MA. Known for their ability to create timeless outdoor spaces that complement the natural beauty of the coast, their team of landscape architects and designers brings a unique touch to every project.

We spoke with one of their designers, Tidal Henry, about his inspirations, favorite design elements, and the trends shaping the future of coastal landscape architecture. Read his full interview below:

What inspired you to become a landscape architect/designer

After several summers working in Landscape construction during college, I was inspired.

How would you describe your design philosophy in one sentence?

I don't have a philosophy per se, as all clients are different.

What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on and why?

A house in a historic district on Cape Cod, instead of mulch or a traditional lawn, we seeded with 11,000 square feet of meadow.

What elements or materials do you love incorporating into your designs?

Native plantings and meadows.

What trends in landscape architecture/design excite you the most right now?

Sustainability

Who has been a major influence or mentor in your career?

V. Michael Weinmayr and Miroslava Ahearn.

Anything else you’d like to share about your journey or the field of landscape architecture?

I love that there are always new things to learn.
